The medical-setting scenario is a long-standing roleplay category. It is also the one where
platform rules most often surprise people, so it is worth knowing what is and is not permitted
before you plan anything.
Where the platform rules sit
Operators generally permit fictional medical settings and prohibit anything presenting itself as
actual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. That distinction is not squeamishness — it is a
liability question, and it is enforced.
Practically: a fictional consultation is a scenario. Asking a performer for a real assessment of
a real symptom is not, and will be declined by anyone competent regardless of what you are paying.
What to agree before starting
- The premise, in one sentence. Enough for the performer to know the shape.
- How clinical. The register ranges widely, and “nurse roleplay” tells the
performer almost nothing on its own. - What is off the table. Plainly, and before.
- A way out of character. A word or phrase that means pause. Standard for any
scenario with a power dynamic, and it takes ten seconds to agree.
The thing worth saying plainly
A performer in a medical scenario is not a medical professional and is not offering care.
Nobody sensible believes otherwise, but the boundary is worth stating because this is the one
roleplay category where the fiction touches something with real consequences.
If you have an actual health concern, a cam room is not where it gets addressed — and a
performer who declines to play along with a real question is doing the right thing.
Etiquette
Do not push past a decline. Some performers do not take medical scenarios at
all, for reasons that are theirs.
Do not send a long script cold. Assessing one takes longer than most performers
will spend on an unsolicited request. A short premise gets a much better response.
Stay inside what was agreed, and step out of character to renegotiate rather
than drifting.
